How long do Bosch appliances last?

Updated July 2026 · 7 min read

Bosch is the brand technicians most often recommend to their own family. The engineering is conservative, the parts stay available for a long time, and the designs prioritize longevity over gadgets. You pay more up front but usually get 3 to 5 extra years out of the appliance compared to a mid-tier competitor.

Dishwashers: 12 to 15+ years

Bosch dishwashers are the flagship of the brand and it shows. Stainless interiors, quiet operation, and simple, service-friendly design mean most Bosch dishwashers reach 15 years with only routine service. The usual failure points are the drain pump, heater element, and door hinge cables - all straightforward repairs at reasonable cost.

Washers and dryers: 12 to 15 years

Bosch front-load washers and heat-pump dryers (300 and 500 series) are compact-format European machines. They are more forgiving on the tub bearings than most competitors and the electronic controls are conservative. Heat-pump dryers add complexity but the units we service are still going strong at year 10 to 12.

Refrigerators: 12 to 15 years

Bosch refrigeration is a smaller part of their North American lineup but the 800 series counter-depth French door units are well-built. They avoid the in-door ice complexity of Samsung and LG, which is a big part of why they outlast those brands. Sealed-system failures are rare.

Wall ovens and cooktops: 15 to 20 years

Bosch wall ovens are excellent and their induction cooktops are among the best available. The main long-term watch item is the touch control glass on induction cooktops - a single cracked panel is expensive to replace.

Things to know

  • Bosch parts cost more than Whirlpool or GE equivalents, but you need them less often.
  • Bosch dishwashers have very specific installation requirements - a bad install can cause leaks that look like appliance faults.
  • Compact 24-inch Bosch laundry is not the same as full-size North American washers - great for condos, not ideal for large families.

Bottom line

Bosch is almost always worth repairing. A significant repair at year 10 on a Bosch dishwasher, washer, or oven is a smart decision because the appliance reliably has years of good service left. That is not something we can say about most other brands at the same age.
